This year marks the 50th anniversary of one of the most famous and recognizable cars - the Porsche 911. This is one of the most significant milestones in the history of Porsche.
50 years ago, during the Frankfurt auto show, the company introduced the public to the 901 model, designed to replace the outdated 356. However, when it came time to release the new product for sale, its number had to be changed to 911. The fact is that the exclusive right to model numbers with zero in the middle belongs to the company Peugeot.
Despite the past half century, Porsche designers have managed to maintain the unique shape of the car (which detractors sometimes call the "pop-eyed soap box"), while managing to give it a modern look. In total, 820,000 911 models have been sold during this time, most of which are on the move and function perfectly.
Porsche representatives said that this year the exhibition "50 years of the Porsche 911" will be held at the official museum of the company - June 4 and September 29. Also in 2013, a new model will be presented, the development of which is dedicated to the anniversary. Most likely, the novelty will be demonstrated in September this year in Frankfurt.
By the way, 2013 is generally rich in anniversaries - it marks 100 years since the founding of the Aston Martin brand and 50 years since the birth of Lamborghini.
