Disney has decided to shut down LucasArts, the video game division of LucasFilm, which was acquired in late 2012.
LucasArts (originally called Lucasfilm Games) was founded in 1982 and is considered one of the oldest video game developers in the world. She developed such hits as The Secret of Monkey Island, Sam & Max, Grim Fandango and some others that appeared in the 90s of the last century. The studio also created many popular games based on the Star Wars and Indiana Jones universes.
The highly anticipated Star Wars: First Assault and Star Wars 1313 games have been discontinued. It is possible that they will be transferred to third-party developers. Also, as a result of the ongoing restructuring, 150 people will be laid off.
